Dalí’s Empordà: Exploring the Landscape, examines Dalí’s strong sense of place attached to his homeland of Catalonia, Spain. “Sense of place” is defined by Oxford as, “an umbrella concept that includes all the other concepts—attachment to place, national identity, and regional awareness.” This online exhibition will focus on important Dalí locations, covering two apartments in Figueres, his family’s summer home in Cadaqués, and his expansive residence in Port Lligat.

This online exhibit brings to life the personal relationships and the intellectual passions that threatened to tear apart the newly formed artistic movement called Surrealism.

Like other artists of the 20th century, Salvador Dalí worked as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines. Compared to the other artists, Dalí was the most devoted to working commercially and invested the most energy into it.

In this online exhibit we introduce some of Dali’s most iconic contributions to the music industry, including album cover illustrations, opera, advertisements on record albums, recorded Dalí interviews and much more.

Salvador Dalí, known for his paintings, drawings, and even his own writings, was also an illustrator for many books. This exhibition displays illustrations Dalí created for various anthologies and literary works.
