In conjunction with our special exhibition The Shape of Dreams and Black History Month, we invite you to an extraordinary performance by Cranstan Cumberbatch.

During this event, Cranstan Cumberbatch will present an immersive, interactive multimedia and theatrical presentation centered around the pursuit of Dreams. Inspired by the works of Salvador Dalí, surrealist leader of the Négritude Movement, Aimé Césaire, Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes, and thoughts of his own, Cranstan will take you on a spiritual journey of awakening, sharp realities, and the passion that drives within to fulfill purpose.

Cranstan, born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL,  is a multi award winning film & stage actor, director, writer, producer, vocalist, and United States Talent Olympic Medalist. Cranstan has a long history of performing in the Tampa Bay Area. He’s been a performer in many works at American Stage, The Studio@620, The Straz Center, Tampa Rep, The University of South Florida, Think Tank Theater, Florida Studio Theater, Rory Lawrence Productions, and that’s just Florida. Some of his stage credits to include; A Raisin in the Sun as Bobo, Two Trains Running as Wolf, and RENT as Benny. Pipeline as Dun, Voodo Macbeth as Malcom, King Lear as Edmund.

Cranstan has not only been heavily involved on the stage end, his screen and production talents have taken him far as well. Some film credits include; Agent X the series, King Charles, Simi the Series, If You Only Knew, Loved, Art in the City, Loaded Love, and a host more.

Cranstan also serves as one of the organizing directors of the Sunshine City Film Festival, and the Black Arts and Film Festival in St. Pete. He’s also the Executive director for the Tampa Bay Actors Guild. As if all of that wasn’t enough, he has his own film production company based here in St.Petersburg titled DreamMakerz Productions. He’s the Performing Arts Director for Pinellas County Job Corps in St. Pete, Teaching Artist at American stage and Stageworks Theatre Company in Tampa. 

Cranstan is truly grateful to have such blessed opportunities to share his gifts in the arts within the community he grew up in. Creative in his thoughts; Artistic in his Actions; Poetic in his speech; and Passionate in his ways….
