The Dalí’s online Contest

Launched in 2021, The Dalí Museum’s annual free online contest is a celebration of creativity and a vibrant extension of our mission to preserve Salvador Dalí’s legacy while engaging a global audience. This sensational contest invites artists from around the world to showcase their creations inspired by the Museum’s permanent collection of the works of Dalí and our dynamic fall special exhibition, offering a platform for imaginative interpretations and artistic expression.

The Dalí’s Paint Your Bedroom Contest marked the beginning of the annual contest series. The contest was inspired by the Museum’s special exhibition Van Gogh Alive and effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Van Gogh Alive exhibit celebrated the many places that inspired Van Gogh, with a particular focus on domestic spaces like the bedroom. Traditionally associated with sleeping, during the global pandemic, the bedroom also became a space for work, relaxation, celebration and imagination. We invited the world to share their impressions of their bedrooms. With positive stories and spectacular submissions, we were inspired to continue the contest and explore themes such as photojournalism, Impressionism and the enigma of dreams.

In this captivating contest, the public has a say in determining the top three placements of the three Museum-selected winners. These artists are rewarded with a curated collection of educational resources, premium art supplies and exclusive items from The Dalí Museum store. Additionally, most of the submissions are showcased in a vibrant online exhibition, allowing art enthusiasts around the world to experience and engage with these inspiring works.
