Surrealist Photography: Ekphrastic Writing
January 28, 2025 @ 6:00pm – 8:00pm
In this ekphrastic workshop, we’ll begin with an exclusive viewing of The Subversive Eye: Surrealist and Experimental Photography from the David Raymond Collection. Afterwards, you’ll use this experience as a jumping-off point for a piece of writing. Though storytelling is often a verbal or written presentation, stories surround us in every detail of our lives—our imaginations soar when we see a whimsical piece, childhood memories are triggered by certain colors and shapes, textures remind us of another time in our lives. Participants will write a one-page ekphrastic story or poem inspired by the exhibit and have the chance to perform their work during the event.
Location: The Dalí Museum’s Raymond James Community Room
Cost: $30 for Museum members | $40 for non-members
Materials and gallery access are included.
