Impressionism: Ekphrastic Writing

  • This event has passed.

January 30 @ 6:00pm 8:00pm

In conjunction with our special exhibition, Dali & the Impressionists: Monet, Renoir, Degas & More, and in collaboration with the teachers of Keep St. Pete Lit, we invite you to join us for a special evening of writing inspired by art, or ekphrastic writing.

In this ekphrastic workshop, we’ll begin with an exclusive viewing of Dali & the Impressionists. Afterwards, you’ll use this experience as a jumping off point for a piece of writing. Though storytelling is often a verbal or written presentation, stories surround us in every detail of our lives—our imaginations soar when we see a whimsical piece, childhood memories are triggered by certain colors and shapes, textures remind us of another time in our lives. Participants will write a one-page ekphrastic story or poem inspired by the exhibit and have the chance to perform their work during the event.

Location: The Dalí Museum’s Raymond James Community Room
Cost: $30 for Museum members | $40 for non-members
