WHAT: #GivingTuesday is a worldwide call-to-action campaign to bring people, charities, companies and organizations together to donate to their favorite cause on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, when the unofficial end-of-year giving season starts. The campaign inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support to help create a better world. Last year on #GivingTuesday, online giving increased 90% for 3,800 nonprofits – more than $19.2 million – compared to 2012, according to Blackbaud, a nonprofit technology provider.
The Dalí Museum is proud to join the celebration and inspire people on #GivingTuesday to take collaborative action to improve their local communities by supporting the arts. Arts and culture play a pivotal role in promoting social and economic improvement through local regeneration, attracting tourists, developing talent and innovation, and have even been shown to improve health and wellbeing.
The Dalí offers free or discounted admission to more than 15,000 students annually, provides student programs geared towards building confidence, self-esteem and public speaking skills, holds art workshops for at-risk inner-city students, offers unique inspiration to visitors by sharing the legacy of Salvador Dalí and serves as a cultural resource for the Tampa Bay community and the world at large.
The Dalí also actively seeks docents and volunteers in the areas of guest relations, education, membership, marketing and more. Training is provided and volunteers receive special benefits for their service. Over 225 active volunteers ranging in age from 16 to 90 contribute their time and talents in a variety of ways at the Museum.
