Poetry at The Dalí is a monthly reading series held on the second Thursday, led by former St. Petersburg Poet Laureate Helen Pruitt Wallace and The Dalí’s Executive Director, Dr. Hank Hine. Since its inception, it has become one of the area’s premier reading series.
The format of the reading series, whether virtual or live, includes a poem read by Helen Pruitt Wallace, readings by the guest poet or poets, and a Q&A session.
For those wanting to participate as readers, please review the following information for guidance. Traditional poets, i.e., those whose work is primarily transmitted through written texts, must have published at least one full-length book (excluding self-published or subsidized/vanity presses) and/or have a substantial publication history in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and media and needs to have received recognition in the field (including awards, fellowships and prizes). Spoken-word poets need to show their performance history via a selection of YouTube videos or other online sources. For both text-based and performance-based poets who meet these criteria, demonstrating attention to craft is key for consideration.
