dali & spain

  • Born in Figueres, Spain, Dalí drew lifelong inspiration from the landscapes and culture of his native Catalonia, particularly Cadaqués and Port Lligat.
  • Dalí and Gala made their home in Port Lligat, where Dalí lived and worked for decades. Visitors can glimpse their life there through The Faces of Marriage, a special presentation currently on view in the permanent collection featuring photographs of the couple in their Spanish home.
  • Visitors can find a piece of Spain right here in St. Pete when they visit the Museum’s Avant-garden. A stone from Cadaqués, Spain, was gifted by the town’s mayor and people, providing a physical connection to the landscape that helped shape Dalí’s imagination.
