Giraffes on Horseback Salad: A Reimagining of Dalí’s Film Script

In 1937, Salvador Dalí wrote the film script “Giraffes on Horseback Salad,” a cinematic concept so surreal and ahead of its time that it proved impossible to produce. For almost a century, it lived only in sketches and notes.

With the power of Google Cloud and the DeepMind Veo 2 generative video model, Goodby Silverstein & Partners and The Dalí Museum aim to realize that vision, using tools finally capable of transforming this surrealist idea for the screen.

Giraffes on Horseback Salad tells the story of a man who falls in love with a woman from a world where dreams are reality, drawing him into her vibrant, chaotic and boundless universe. As their worlds merge, so does the conflict, blurring the line between imagination and destruction.

Like Dalí’s own time, this is a story where beauty and chaos collide, the limits of reality are shattered and creation and annihilation go hand in hand.

Conceptually introduced on April 9, 2025, during Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas, this reimagining is still in development and marks the latest in a series of visionary collaborations between Goodby Silverstein & Partners and The Dalí Museum, including Ask Dalí, an AI-powered interactive conversation with the artist and Dream Tapestry, a surrealist art generator powered by machine learning.
