Lecture: Reimagining Art and Nature at Selby Gardens

In conjunction with our special exhibition, Reimagining Nature: Dalí’s Floral Fantasies, this lecture will feature David Berry, Vice President for Visitor Engagement and Chief Museum Curator at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, who will dive into a magnificent exploration of nature at Selby Gardens.

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, is home to the world’s most diverse collection of living epiphytes, or air plants. Selby Gardens helps visitors connect to nature through a series of dynamic art and horticulture exhibitions at its two bayfront campuses. Discover the collaborative process that enables Selby Gardens’ interdisciplinary team to reimagine art and nature through the surprising and unconventional use of plants.

David Berry, Vice President for Visitor Engagement and Chief Museum Curator at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

David Berry did his doctoral research at the University of Oxford with a focus on the history of museums, gardens, and libraries. David spent ten years at The Ringling in Sarasota, serving ultimately in the role of Associate Director, before joining Selby Gardens in 2021 as Vice President for Visitor Engagement and Chief Museum Curator. David teaches courses on the history of museums and the art of natural history at New College of Florida.
