Join us for a discussion on teaching AI in the classroom with Rick Dakan, Professor of Creative Writing and Chair of the AI Task Force at Ringling College of Art and Design.

We will explore the transformative potential of AI in creative fields, focusing on image and video generation, providing an accessible overview of how AI works while addressing key ethical and legal concerns.

We will also discuss how artists can use ethically sourced tools and leverage technologies that prioritize transparency for creators. Attendees will leave with a foundational understanding of AI generation technologies, their applications in the classroom and actionable strategies for using AI tools responsibly and ethically.

Rick Dakan is a professor of Creative Writing and the AI Coordinator at the Ringling College of Art and Design, where he teaches classes on writing for video games, writing genre fiction, interactive experience design and the fundamentals of AI. As AI Coordinator he oversaw the development of Ringling College’s new Undergraduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence. His current research focuses on developing AI Fluency practices for artists, designers and other creatives.
