Member Preview — Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí

As a benefit of Museum membership, members are invited to preview the special exhibition, Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí, from May 22-23, 2025 prior to the exhibit’s public opening. Please enjoy a members-only first look in the Hough Gallery on the Museum’s third floor, plus a chance to observe the artists at work as they bring their murals to life.

Friday, May 23: 10am – 6pm
Members are encouraged to RSVP. Walk up tickets are also available for member preview days on a first-come, first-served basis. As always, be sure to bring your membership card and valid ID to show at parking and admission.
About Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí
In celebration of the SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival’s ten-year anniversary, Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí brings the vibrant world of street art into the heart of The Dalí Museum. This unique exhibition invites both current and past SHINE artists to create dynamic murals within the Museum’s gallery, inspired by the surreal genius of Salvador Dalí, his collection and the iconic architecture of the Museum itself.
Since 2015, the installation of 180 murals has transformed downtown St. Petersburg and the surrounding arts districts. Now, in this gallery setting, visitors can explore these murals up close—experiencing the intricate details and techniques that often go unnoticed in outdoor installations, blurring the lines between the conventional and the unconventional.
By showcasing street art within a museum context, the exhibition offers a fresh perspective on the intersections between public art and the gallery space.
The exhibition is curated by Allison McCarthy, Associate Curator and Preparator at The Dalí Museum, with murals by twelve artists from around the world, including SHINE founders Tes One, Chad Mize, Palehorse and Bask, each of whom brings their own unique interpretation of Dalí’s surrealist legacy.
