As part of our special exhibition, Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí, the Museum invited 13 artists to create original murals inspired by the legacy of Salvador Dalí, his works and the Museum’s architecture. Bakpak Durden
Bakpak Durden is a Detroit-based artist who merges Baroque and Afro-Surrealist traditions to create cinematic experiences exploring human consciousness and spiritual existence. Durden is known for large-scale murals that depict subjects in transitional states, fostering deep connections with surrounding communities. Their work has been exhibited at venues such as Cranbrook Art Museum, Muskegon Museum of Art and The Arab American National Museum, among others.
BASK
BASK is the moniker of Ales “Bask” Hostomsky, whose richly layered, textural works convey a satirical worldview that he calls “anti-iconic.” Born in Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia and now based in Florida, BASK draws on Western pop culture and his early experiences of oppression. His paintings and murals have been exhibited internationally and featured in films such as Iron Man 3 and Fast & Furious 8.
Chad Mize
Chad Mize is a St. Petersburg-based multimedia artist, designer and muralist known for his playful blend of humor, bold patterns and cultural commentary. A key figure in the local arts scene, he opened MIZE Gallery in 2018 and later launched the curatorial project SPACE. Mize has collaborated with major brands including Disney, Facebook and the Tampa Bay Lightning, and his work is held in collections around the world.
Fintan Magee
Fintan Magee is a Brisbane-born artist recognized for his large-scale murals that explore themes of migration, environment and social change. A pioneer in Australia’s street art movement, Magee combines political storytelling with monumental public artworks. His murals span 32 cities worldwide, including Berlin, Los Angeles, Bogotá, Paris and New York.
Greg Mike
Greg Mike is an Atlanta-based artist whose vibrant murals and studio works fuse the playful energy of mid-century cartoons with a surreal pop aesthetic. Deeply influenced by skate culture and street art, he has created murals in cities like Miami, San Francisco and the Swiss Alps, and exhibits internationally in galleries across Paris, Shanghai, New York and beyond.
Lauren YS
Lauren YS (they/them) is a queer Asian American artist from Denver, Colorado, now based in Los Angeles. Known for their lush, high-chroma murals and paintings, Lauren draws from mythology, queer culture and personal heritage to create vivid worlds that celebrate identity and narrative fluidity. Their work champions BIPOC and queer stories in vibrant public and gallery spaces worldwide.
Marina Capdevila
Marina Capdevila is a Catalan artist celebrated for her humorous, vibrant portraits of the elderly that challenge stereotypes around age, beauty and gender. Inspired by her grandmother, Capdevila’s murals and studio works span continents, with projects across Europe, North America and South America. Her work invites reflection on identity, mortality and the joy of everyday life.
Miss Crit
Miss Crit (Laura Spencer) is an illustrator from St. Petersburg, Florida, with a quirky style that’s a little bit spooky and a little bit psychedelic. Blending fine art techniques, digital design, and narrative storytelling, she creates playful imagery that invites personal interpretation. Her practice spans drawings, paintings, murals, and interactive installations—all designed to enchant viewers and empower them to imagine their own stories.
Naomi Haverland
Naomi Haverland is a Florida-based artist specializing in hyper-realistic, humorous chalk murals and anamorphic illusions. Originally from Denver, Haverland has won multiple awards at national and international chalk festivals and has created work for brands like Harley-Davidson, Amazon and Microsoft. In addition to public murals, she produces oil paintings during the summer months.
Nicole Salgar
Nicole Salgar is a Latin muralist and painter based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Drawing on global travel and cross-cultural influences, Salgar creates richly symbolic works that bridge personal and collective narratives. Through residencies and community projects across the U.S., Cuba, South America and Europe, her murals offer surreal spaces for reflection on identity, transformation and the natural world.
Palehorse
Palehorse is a multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant murals, paintings and immersive installations draw from Eastern spirituality, mythology and sacred iconography. Infusing his art with the spiritual teachings of Kriya Yoga, Palehorse creates transformative experiences that bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary design. He is the co-founder of the SHINE Mural Festival (Est. 2015).
SHOK-1
British artist SHOK-1 spray paints unique X-ray murals on walls around the world, presenting a visual diagnosis of life in the 21st century. A pioneer of European street art, he has worked in spray paint since 1984, blending his lifelong passion for science and technology with street culture. He holds a degree in Applied Chemistry and is based in London.
Tes One
Known for his signature blend of traditional artistry and graphic design, Tes One explores contrasts and balance through vivid murals, paintings and design projects. His work has been acquired by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Library of Congress. Tes One is a co-founder of the SHINE Mural Festival (Est. 2015) and a partner at Up&Over murals.
