An Evening of Surreal Dreams in an Enchanted Forest

October 1, 2015

Annual Sueños de Dalí returns to The Dalí Museum

An enigmatic atmosphere will once again delight audiences at The Dalí Museum’s 5th Annual Sueños de Dali (Dreams of Dali) fundraiser. Taking place Saturday, October 24th at 8pm at The Dalí Museum in downtown St. Petersburg, FL the event’s “enchanted forest” theme boldly brings the outdoors in. This year’s soiree begins the countdown to The Dalí’s visionary exhibition, “Dalí and Disney: Architects of the Imagination,” (opening Jan 2016) by exploring how creativity can construct environments that alter our perceptions of the world. The party’s setting will animate the imagination with a surreal setting and a touch of magic.

Inspired by Salvador Dalí’s legendary 1941 fete dubbed “A Surrealistic Night in an Enchanted Forest,” held at Hotel Del Monte in Monterey, California – the 2015 Sueños de Dalí invites guests to make merry in a setting of wondrous decor, lavish costumes, dazzling dishes and curious cocktails. The Dalí and its elegant gardens will transform into a fantastical forest, fit for the dreams of Dalí himself, and guests are encouraged to dress in costumes to fit the enchanted theme.

Stone Chef will provide tastings during the VIP hour from 7-8pm, Sea Salt will serve Canopy-guests, and Park Shore Grill will present cuisine for attendees throughout the night. Mandarin Hide’s master mixologists will serve drinks including the event’s signature cocktail, the “Pandora Blue.” For entertainment, Fred Astaire Studio dancers, the Garden Fairies performance troupe, and members from the Florida West Ballet will dazzle attendees with pop-up performances. Partygoers will also enjoy music from the Erica DiCeglie Band, the Saint Petersburg Opera, Japanese Drums by Tampa Taiko, plus dancing led by DJ Franky G.

A unique offering for Sueños’ Canopy Level sponsors includes a private meet-and-greet event on Friday, Oct 23rd (the night prior to Sueños) with David Bossert, Creative Director & Head of Special Projects at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Bossert is the author of “Dalí & Disney: Destino: The Story, Artwork, and Friendship Behind the Legendary Film,” and was part of the brain trust that generated the idea for the upcoming Dalí and Disney exhibition.

The 5th Annual Sueños de Dali is presented by Bert Smith Porsche, Tampa Bay Magazine, Mascerelli Wines, J.J Taylor Beers, Duvel Beers and Deep Eddy Vodka.
