Postcards to Dalí
The Surrealists saw postcards as a source of marvel and mystery, and Dalí was attracted to postcards as well as miniaturist art because of its intimate jewel-like appearance. So what better way to celebrate the opening of the new Salvador Dalí Museum than to have a student surreal postcard competition? This theme invites students to reflect on what their thoughts about Dalí and the new museum, and to explore mystery, enigma and dream themes on an intimate scale (8x10").

"DalíVision" Outreach Program
If your school can’t visit the Dalí Museum, then consider inviting the Museum to visit you. With a little advance notice — and with no cost to you — the Dalí Museum can schedule a trained docent to visit with slides or posters to best suit your needs. Museum docents regularly visit classrooms in Pinellas County, and can visit Pasco, Hillsborough, Sarasota and Manatee counties depending on availability. Contact the Education Department 727.823.3767 x3028.
Your Ideas
The Museum is establishing an online archive of Dalí-related lesson plans and curriculum ideas. This archive will feature classroom-tested activities submitted by teachers and will be a free online resource for educators everywhere.
If you have ideas or lesson plans that you think would be helpful additions to the Museum’s Teacher’s Guide, please contact the Museum. When we add to our online resources, we will include teacher and school profiles as well - not only to give authorial credit, but also to fill in the educational context behind each activity.
