Cafe Gala is designed to create an educational as well as culinary experience by introducing visitors to Spanish food and history. Named in honor of Salvador Dali’s wife Gala, the casual eatery embraces the heritage of Salvador Dali by presenting a menu of light fare with a Spanish theme. Tapas and small plates of appetizers are a specialty, along with traditional pastries, soups (gazpacho and caldo gallego), salads and sandwiches.
Visitors do not need to purchase a ticket to visit the Cafe or the Museum Store. Diners may choose to eat inside or out on the Avant-Garden patio, making a visit to Cafe Gala a destination in itself.
The cafe makes a perfect stop for a light breakfast, lunch or mid-afternoon break for coffee and pastries. Kahwa local roasted coffee is served, including espresso, cappuccino and macchiato. A flan-like dessert – Crema Catalana – tops the pastry selections, along with Tiramisu and Mantecados (Spanish cookies). A select offering of beer and wine is available, featuring the Cafe’s signature Cava Rosado (Spanish rose champagne).
Cafe Gala is open during regular Museum hours and serves food daily until 5pm and on Thursdays until 7:30pm. Closing times may vary and are subject to change due to the scheduling of non-museum events.
In conjunction with our special exhibition Frida Kahlo at The Dali, Executive Chef Chuck Bandel brings Mexican flavor to Cafe Gala every week, inviting Museum visitors to go #beyond #TacoTuesday with Frida Kahlo-inspired specials each Tuesday. And, beginning January 26th, Cafe Gala will also begin serving Tequila Flights every Thursday from 5-8pm, through April 13, 2017.
