Join us EVERY Saturday to dilly dally with Dalí with fun games, puzzles and craft activities which educate and encourage family interaction. In addition, Dalí Family Guide brochures are available that enable families to explore the collection on their own and discover the magic of Dalí. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage: Spanish Language Tours Every Sunday

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Museum is presenting tours of the collection and the world of Dalí in Spanish each Sunday in September and October at 1:45 p.m.


Cost: FREE with Museum admission.

Inspire Yoga at the Dalí
Sundays, 12:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Classes this month: September 5, 12, 19, 26

Join Inspire Yoga EVERY Sunday at the Dalí - a remarkable environment where Salvador Dalí’s art infuses the physical, mental and spiritual inspiration of yoga. Classes are 75 minute vinyasa/ashtanga-based events incorporating pranayama (breath work), asana (posture work), meditation and relaxation. Beginners and experienced yogis are welcome. Practice as gentle or advanced as desired. Please arrive early on a light stomach, bring a mat and towel, and come ready to be inspired. Classes are held in the Community Room or on the front lawn, overlooking the waterfront (nice weather permitting).

 

Cost: $10 members, $15 non-members. Please pay cash at door, and enter through back parking lot entrance.  Please print and sign the attached waiver and bring with you to sessions.

Dalí & Beyond Film Series: Shock of the New – Episode 4, Trouble in Utopia
Thursday, September 2, 6:00 p.m.

An intelligent, gripping and innovative eight-part BBC series, written and presented by Robert Hughes, art critic and senior writer for Time. This episode presents how modern architects in the wake of the Bauhaus movement aspired to change societies with their designs, a move represented both by Le Corbusier and the plans for the city of Brasilia, as well as the speculations of Buckminster Fuller. Dalí & Beyond Film Series - Nomadic Tendencies Film Festival: Miles Away

1987, BSE spreads across the country, a mystical ‘Harmonic Convergence’ is predicted and two bagmen travel to the country to bury their loot and lay low for a while. Join us on in that magic hour before the museum is open to the public and the ghost of Salvador Dalí still lingers! Explore the Dalí Museum in a tour expressly designed for children age 5 - 12. This interactive tour is led by a Dalí docent who has chosen Dalí paintings and other works which specially appeal to children. The tour is followed by a scrumptious breakfast buffet and hands-on activities until 11:30. This is one of our most popular programs at the Dalí Museum, so hurry to reserve a space for your family! 11 Months of Surrealize the Dream - Dalí Volunteer Awareness Day
Saturday, September 11, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Visit the museum for information on how to become a Dalí volunteer, and then join museum volunteers and staff for sangria and snacks; a screening of a new short art video made especially for the occasion; and the presentation of the Volunteer Challenge check, which represents funds raised by museum volunteers in support of the museum’s Capital Campaign. All this happens in Dalí Museum’s Raymond James Community room between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. In the giving spirit of the day, the Bloodmobile will be at the museum between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Donate blood, and then come in and sign up to donate your time.

Dalí & Beyond Film Series: The Dali Dimension
Thursday, September 16, 6:00 p.m.

Calling himself a “Nuclear Mystical” painter and creating artwork about the DNA molecule and the 4th dimension, Dalí possessed a lifelong fascination with the world

of science. Weaving interviews with scientists and art historians, this documentary explores the vitality science offered to Dalí as a reservoir for new ideas and creations. (Spain, Spanish and Dutch with English subtitles, 2004, 75 mins; probably G)

Emily Ricca: Ballet & Dalí
Friday, October 1, 8:00 p.m. Galleries open at 7:00 p.m.

In conjunction with the exhibit “Dalí, Dance and Beyond,” ballerina Emily Ricca presents a program focusing on the art of ballet in relation to the Spanish Surrealist Salvador Dalí. In addition to Dalí’s celebrated career as a painter, he was engaged in numerous dance projects; producing scenarios, costumes and scenery for such ballets as Bacchanale and Tristan Fou, and collaborating with Léonide Massine’s Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. For this program, Ricca will briefly trace the evolution of ballet in relation to the visual artists, leading to an exploration the of Dalí’s work in relation to and interaction with the world of ballet. Emily Ricca trained at the Virginia School of the Arts. She has been a soloist with Florida Dance Theatre, and is a ballet instructor at the Florida Arts & Dance Company in Stuart, Florida.

A special monthly tour or PowerPoint talk presented by one of the Dalí Museum's Curatorial/Education team held on the first Wednesday of each month. Join us for complimentary Starbucks coffee and refreshments in the museum store at 10:15 followed at 10:30 by a focused, theme-oriented gallery tour with one of the Dalí Museum's curatorial staff.

Dalí & Beyond Film Series: The World of Buckminster Fuller
Thursday, October 7, 6:00 p.m.

This film by Oscar winning filmmaker Robert Snyder, like his other documentaries on "the greats" (Michelangelo, Henry Miller, Willem De Kooning, Pablo Casals, among others), transports the viewer into Fuller's mind and soul. Told entirely in his own words, the film is an intimate, personal and inspiring message from Fuller to our fragile world.  (1974, 80 min.; Not Rated, probably PG).

Dalí & Beyond Film Series: The Morses': Dalí Adventure
Thursday, October 21, 6:00 p.m.

This documentary introduces the story of A. Reynolds Morse and Eleanot R. Morse, the benefactors of the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg.  Discover the real Dalí through the eyes of his foremost collectors and friends, whose relationship with the artist began in 1943 and spanned more than four decades.  Through striking images of Dalí’s paintings and historical photos and documentation, the Morses’ share anecdotes and details of their Dalí Adventure.
