We each have deeply personal dream experiences, unique and irrefutable. Yet they are transient, and until now, we could not instantly manifest those dreams into a tangible, visual image or share their visual splendor with others.
The Dalí’s Dream Tapestry utilizes a groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) system, not-so-ironically called Dall-E*, to transform personal dreams into painterly visions.
After each visitor’s dream is created, the A.I. system connects it with the dream paintings by other visitors to generate a one-of-a-kind dream tapestry. Every few minutes, a new tapestry is created and exhibited on the Museum’s gallery walls – art that is both personal and communal.
It is said that dreams are private myths, and myths are public dreams. The Dream Tapestry visualizes an eternal, interpersonal dreamworld; a collection of visions that unite the inner worlds of individuals together in a dynamic and ever-evolving dream of humanity.
*Dall-E’s name is a portmanteau of the names of animated robot Pixar character WALL-E and our very own, Salvador Dalí. It is an A.I. system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language.
