You may have heard of Kiki de Montparnasse\, but what about Giacometti’s first mistress\, American sculptor Flora Mayo\, or the other women who inspired his iconic sculptures\, including his wife Annette\, Isabel Nicholas and a prostitute named Caroline?  \n\n\n\nIn this talk\, Margo Hammond brings these women to life\, along with other forgotten female muses and artists of Montparnasse: Russian painter Marie Vassilief who ran a canteen for artists\, German baroness turned performance artist Elsa Von Fretag-Loringhoven\, English lampshade designer Mina Loy\, French Vicomtesse and Dalí patron Marie-Laure de Noailles\, Italian Marquese Luisa Casata and American journalist Djuna Barnes who came to Paris on assignment and stayed a decade. In 2020 her 10-minute play Notorious was included in USF’s Emerging Playwrights: A Virtual Stage Reading under the direction of her teacher\, local playwright William Leavengood. Other playwriting teachers who have inspired her are Obie winner Harry Kondoleon\, Emmy winner John Ford Noonan\, and Producing Artistic Director of American Stage Helen Murray.

Individual books include Shimming the Glass House\, and a chapbook\, Pink Streets. A former Poet Laureate of St. Petersburg\, she is the curator of The Dalí Poetry series.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSandra Simonds is an award-winning writer and professor. She is the author of ten books\, including nine books of poetry and the novel Assia (Noemi Press\, 2023)\, winner of the 2023 Vermont Book Award in fiction. Her poetry collection Burning Oracle is forthcoming from Wesleyan University Press in 2026\, and Triptychs (Wave Books\, 2022) was a New York Times selection. Her honors include the University of Akron Poetry Prize and the Cleveland State University Open Poetry Prize; she was also a finalist for the National Poetry Series. \n\n\n\nHer work has appeared in The New Yorker\, The New York Times\, Best American Poetry\, Poetry\, American Poetry Review\, Granta\, Boston Review and Ploughshares. She has received residencies from The Arctic Circle\, Millay Arts Colony and Story Villa Finland\, among others. She has taught at Bennington College\, Florida State University\, Thomas University\, and the University of Montana. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCampbell McGrath is the author of twelve books of poetry\, among them Fever of Unknown Origin (Knopf\, 2023) and XX: Poems for the Twentieth Century (Ecco Press\, 2018)\, a Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He has received major prizes for his work\, including the Kingsley Tufts Award\, a Guggenheim Fellowship\, a MacArthur Fellowship\, a USA Knight Fellowship\, and a Witter-Bynner Fellowship from the Library of Congress. His poetry has appeared in scores of literary reviews and quarterlies and over seventy-five anthologies\, along with periodicals including Harper’s\, The Atlantic\, The Nation\, and the op-ed page of the New York Times; The New Yorker has published his poems in five different decades. Born in Chicago\, he lives in Miami Beach and teaches at Florida International University\, where he is the Philip and Patricia Frost Professor of Creative Writing and a Distinguished University Professor of English.

As a member of the Fulton Chamber Players\, Zhang has given masterclasses and recitals at universities such as Taipei National University of the Arts\, Hansei University\, Chinese Culture University\, Fu Jen University\, and Aletheia University. She has performed on stages across the United States\, Mexico\, Japan\, Korea\, and China\, and upcoming performances this year are scheduled in Paris\, Ho Chi Minh City\, Guangzhou\, Hawaii\, Florida\, and Wisconsin. She began her piano journey at the age of fi ve and soon after joined the studio of Professor Li Qi. Zhang later earned admission to the prestigious High School attached to Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory of Music. There\, she continued to study piano under the guidance of Professor Zhu Qing\, and later with Professor Peter Takács at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Professor Alexander Shtarkman at the Peabody Institute of Music.. She has attended the Gijón International Piano Festival\, North Coast Piano Festival\, Montecito International Music Festival and Fulton Summer Music Academy\, where she is now Faculty Artist in Residence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAddison Teng 鄧丞修 \n\n\n\nViolinist Addison Teng 鄧丞修 is an internationally sought-after performer and teacher. He has given solo and chamber music performances across North America\, Europe\, and Asia. Teng is a founding member of the Fulton Chamber Players\, who recently made their debut performance at Newport Classical in Rhode Island\, and has played with the Grant Park Orchestra in Chicago. In 2018 he received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at Oberlin College and Conservatory and is a Distinguished Alumnus of the Meadowmount School of Music\, and has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who.Teng is president and founder of the nonprofi t Fulton Music Society and is the director of the Fulton Summer Music Academy\, Fulton In Residence\, and Fulton Conservatory of Music programs. Teng began his teaching career as a teaching assistant at the Meadowmount School of Music and Northwestern University Bienen School of Music\, assisting Sally Thomas\, Amy Barlowe\, and Roland and Almita Vamos. He has given masterclasses and coachings at Colburn School of Music\, Lawrence University\, Eastman Pre-College\, Pôle Sup’93 in La Courneuve\, France\, Taiwan National University of Arts\,University of Hawai’i at Mānoa\, New World School of the Arts\, Istituto Musicale Sammarinese in San Marino\, Conservatorio Bruno Maderna in Cesena\, Italy\, Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno\, Italy\, and Conservatório Villa-Lobos in Rio de Janeiro.Teng’s students have recently placed at competitions both locally and nationally\, have been admitted to top universities and conservatories and awarded Fulbright and Wells scholarships. His students have gone on to win jobs in major orchestras all across the USA. Teng’s students have soloed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra\, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra\, Springfi eld Symphony\, Denver Young Artist Orchestra\, and Montecito Festival Orchestra\, and have been guest concertmaster of Fort Wayne Philharmonic.Teng graduated with a Master of Music in Violin Performance and String Pedagogy from Northwestern University Bienen School of Music and received his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music. His principal teachers and mentors have included Joey Corpus\, Sally Thomas\, Ann Setzer\, Roland and Almita Vamos\, Peter Takács\, Amy Barlowe\, and Karen Ritscher. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Fulton Chamber Players is a classical music ensemble uniting world-class artists to present exceptional programs.
