SUMMARY:Lecture: Influences & Evocations
DESCRIPTION:buy tickets\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for an engaging presentation with musical illustrations by pianist Raquel Garzás\, presented in collaboration with the Spanish Young Music Talents (SYMT)\, a flagship music program of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington\, D.C. \n\n\n\nThis presentation takes place following Raquel’s piano concert on June 4\, 2026. Click here to learn more. \n\n\n\n“Just like Dalí\, composers distill images\, atmospheres and dreamlike worlds into their works. This music holds a hidden symbolism that the performer must decipher to bring it to life. In this presentation\, titled ‘Influences & Evocations’\, I will explore the emotional process of venturing into the inner worlds of figures such as Albéniz\, Satie and Antheil. I will discuss how some of these pieces have shaped my career and how preparing for this concert has revealed new soundscapes to me. My goal is to unravel this symbolism through words\, inviting the audience to share the hidden secrets that pulse beneath the keys.” – Raquel Garzás \n\n\n\nLocation: The Dalí Museum’s Will Raymund TheaterCost: $5 ticketsGallery access is not included. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRaquel Garzás was born in Spain in 1992. She studied her Bachelor’s at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón with the pianist Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas where she achieved Cum Laude in chamber music and the Final Bachelor Research. She has a Master’s Degree by the Koninklijk Conservatorium of The Hague with David Kuyken. Since 2012 she has been playing with the Nederlandse Jeugd Orkest\, participating in projects led by Etienne Siebens\, Antony Hermus\, Jasper de Waal and Marc Krone. In 2016 she was a member of the ‘Spanish Youth Orchestra’\, as well as being selected to become a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. Thanks to these youth orchestras\, she has performed orchestral\, chamber music and operatic programmes in some of the most well-known concert halls in Europe\, such as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, Konzerthaus in Berlin and Teatro alla Scala in Milan\, among others. As a soloist she has performed with several orchestras recently\, one of the most relevant being the “Chamber music Orchestra Andrés Segovia” together with the “Orfeón Donostiarra” in the National Auditorium of Madrid. A 2nd prize at the 86th Juventudes Musicales Competition of Spain and two competed education scholarships also highlight her career as a soloist. Raquel is a co-founder member of the Camus Trio based in The Netherlands. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpanish Young Music Talents (SYMT) is the flagship music program of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington\, D.C.\, launched in 2022. Created to support and elevate the careers of emerging Spanish musicians\, SYMT fosters artistic exchange and professional growth through collaborations with leading U.S. music schools\, universities\, and festivals. \n\n\n\nMore than just a performance opportunity\, SYMT offers a comprehensive international experience. Participating musicians take part in a dynamic array of complementary activities —including masterclasses\, lectures\, workshops\, and networking events— designed to expand their artistic vision and build meaningful professional connections. \n\n\n\nAll featured artists are under the age of 33 and winners of the prestigious national award from Juventudes Musicales de España\, a distinction that recognizes outstanding young musical talent.
