The Letters of Vincent van Gogh: A Dramatic Reading

May 20, 2021 @ 6:00pm 7:00pm

Enjoy a glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of one of the world’s most renowned artists, Vincent van Gogh.

Tortured throughout his life by feelings of doubt and fear of inadequacy, Van Gogh shared his deepest feelings with his beloved brother, Theo, through letters. This special presentation includes an original short play by Dalí Museum Guild member, Linda Pugliese, containing excerpts of Van Gogh’s own words from his letters, performed by Roxanne Fay.

In this reading, Van Gogh discusses the purpose and creation of art, the frustration of limitation and the fear of loneliness and despair for humanity with an aching depth and sharp vision. This dramatic work will be read by professional actors so that the audience may experience the passion of Van Gogh’s words. A perfect companion to The Dalí Museum’s current special exhibition Van Gogh Alive, this performance will compel the audience to view the works and life of this artistic genius in a new light.

Location: The Dalí Museum’s Will Raymund Theater (and live on YouTube)

The cost to attend this event is free with purchase of a General Admission ticket to the Museum. It will also be streamed live on our YouTube channel.
