The Caga Tió at The Dalí
The Caga Tió, or Tió de Nadal, is a Catalan holiday tradition beloved by families, especially children. Appearing in Catalonian homes around December 8, the time of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Caga Tió is treated as a welcome guest in the home, receiving small treads of bread, fruit peels and dried beans. On Christmas Eve, the children are encouraged to sing a traditional song dedicated to the Caga Tió as they strike the log with sticks. Afterwards, the blanket is lifted, and the children find gifts and candies that have been hiding there.
