art camp at the museum
Become a Junior Docent at The Dalí Museum’s weeklong camp, where attendees discover new ways to interpret and create art, meet new friends and have fun. This year’s theme, “Inventing Identity,” will focus on the ways in which Dalí reinvented himself throughout his life, exaggerating his life experiences for shock value and crafting mythic stories and symbols from his interests. The Museum offers both in-person and online sessions. Click here to view more information on the program and to view all sessions.
For our Junior Docent Art Camp face-to-face sessions at the Museum, The Dalí will abide by all Museum health & safety guidelines to help create a safe and clean environment for learning and creativity. Students will be spaced 6 feet apart and have their own assigned workspace and individual materials.
This one-week program encourages students (ages 9-14) to express their own ideas about Dalí’s art, while sharing knowledge gained about Dalí and their very own surrealist art in a recorded presentation at the end of the week.
Students who attend Junior Docent Art Camp build a foundation in art by learning how to look at and talk about art through The Dalí’s collection. As students create their own art, they explore Dalí’s techniques, interpret his works in the Museum, and become familiar with Dalí’s life and interests. Junior docents participate in fun, surreal-inspired activities, and make new friends.
Schedule (9:15am-4:15pm daily)
Our in-person drop off begins at 9:15am each day and camp runs until 4:15pm. Mornings include a lesson about Salvador Dalí and his art and afternoons consist of art-making. A break will be offered for students to step outside and enjoy the Museum’s Avant-garden
