Coffee with a Curator: The Genius Behind the Mask

Wednesday, Sep. 04, 10:30–11:30am
  • This event has passed.

Coffee with a Curator is a focused, theme-oriented presentation on a variety of Dali-related topics. The talk is presented by one of The Dalí Museum’s Curatorial/Education team or an invited speaker.

The Genius Behind the Mask: Dalí’s Soft Self-Portraits
Join Denisse De Leon, Dalí Museum School Education Manager, for a survey of Salvador Dalí’s self-portraits, from his earliest mannerist characters through his Surreal narcissistic imagery to his mature role as performer/”artist.” For an artist who filtered his life through his art, surprisingly little study has been devoted specifically to his self-portraits. By analyzing Dalí’s evolving presentation of self in relation to theories of artistic self-portraiture, De Leon will provide new insight and reveal unfamiliar aspects of Dalí’s art.

Cost: Free (parking is free for members as available; $10 parking for nonmembers)
Location: Raymond James Community Room (overflow seating available in the Will Raymund Theater)
