Meet the performers
Tenor Mark Tempesta debuted with St. Pete Opera this summer as Prince Yamadori in Madame Butterfly, and will be returning to cover the role of Count Danilo in the The Merry Widow in October. Last season, Mark was a Resident Artist with Shreveport Opera, and appeared as and Larry in Face on the Ballroom Floor. As a resident artist, he also performed in over 150 outreach performances, performing for more than 30,000 children in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Missisippi.
Tenor Roy Hage is a two-time Grammy nominated artist who has performed more 40 roles including the Duke (Rigoletto), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Alfredo (La Traviata), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Des Grieux (Manon), Ruggero (La Rondine), and the title roles in The Tales of Hoffmann, Roméo et Juliette, The Rakes Progress, Candide and others. A citizen of both Lebanon and the United States, Roy’s two Grammy nominations are for his appearance as a solo artist in the Pentatone Recording of the Santa Fe World Premier of “Cold Mountain,” where created the roles of Reid (Georgia boy) and Home Guard.
The performers will be accompanied by Teresa Ancaya, piano.
