2017 Teen Docent Program
Explore, discover and learn about the art, life and cultural world of Salvador Dali and the Dali Museum collection through lectures, games, art projects, creative writing, films, and oral presentations. This free and fun program allows teens to meet and learn with fellow students and museum staff, docents and other art and museum experts, while getting a behind-the-scenes look at The Dali Museum. In addition, students are invited to tour other cultural attractions and meet St. Petersburg area artists.
In addition to the art and fun, the Teen Docents program builds self-esteem, enhancing the speaking and writing skills of participants and providing opportunities to verbalize personal choices.
The program consists of 16 meetings, taking place from October 2016 through April 2017 (with time off for holidays). Meetings are held on Tuesdays from 4-6pm. A full schedule of dates will be provided at the first meeting.
Class Size: Limited to a maximum of 25 students per session
The program is administered by Dali Museum education staff, with visits from seasoned docents.
What we expect of our Teen Docents:
- Students are required to attend 75% of meetings. If possible, notification of the student’s absence in advance is preferred.
- Have an e-mail account and check it at least once a week before meetings.
- Practice appropriate behavior for the museum and classroom setting that is respectful to instructors, peers, and guest speakers.
- Be receptive to constructive criticism and demonstrate willingness to make adjustments as needed.
