Event Now Amplified – Infused with Craft Beer & Costumes

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (May 20, 2015) – The Dalí’s can’t-miss summer celebration is back and better than ever for its third year. The film series, Cult Classics, has now been infused with elements from The Dalí’s former popular craft beer party, Liquid Desires, creating an epic series of events featuring free flicks, cold craft beer, and local food truck fare. Guests are encouraged to grab a lawn chair, don some movie-inspired digs and enjoy free, classic films the first Thursday of the month all summer long in the Museum’s Avant Garden, the quintessential “anti-movie theater” environment.

This year The Dalí involved the community in the film selection process via a Facebook poll. Fan votes were heard loud and clear for both “Dazed and Confused” and “Animal House,” – not-so-subtly selected to tie in with this year’s introduction of craft beer and costumes. “Top Gun” was added to the lineup based on follower comments and pairs perfectly with the celebration of Independence Day the first week of July.

Doors open and food & beer vendors start serving at 7:00 PM, with the films starting at sunset, around 8:30 PM. Visitors are encouraged to come early to enjoy The Dalí’s extended hours and reduced admission – only $10 on Thursday nights after 5:00 PM – then stay for the film and festivities.

The schedule for the 2015 series is:

June 4, 2015
Dazed and Confused

July 2, 2015
Top Gun

Aug 6, 2015
Animal House

The amplified Cult Classics experience will feature food trucks, garden games such as corn hole, and guests are encouraged to dress in costume themed to the films. The major highlight added to this year’s event series is $5 craft beer tasting flights throughout the night. Thanks to Museum sponsor JJ Taylor Distributing, Florida, Inc., attendees can enjoy an array of craft beer favorites including Traveler Beer Co., Lagunitas Brewing, Cigar City Brewing, Ballast Point Brewing Co. New Belgium Brewing and St. Pete Brewing Co.

Each night will feel like a surreal party and better still; the Cult Classics series is free and open to the public. Guests can pre-purchase one set of craft beer tasting tickets in order to reserve entrance to the event. 100 advanced tickets will be pre-sold with the remaining available on a first come, first serve basis the night-of. The event is held rain or shine (movies and tastings are moved inside during inclement weather).
