Zodiac Tour of Solomon’s Castle

Saturday, Apr. 22, 10am–1pm
  • This event has passed.

This event is sold out. Thank you for your support.

You’re invited to take a tour of a  Z’urreal castle and the art collection it houses, and to dine on a replica Spanish galleon in its moat, when we visit Solomon’s Castle.

Howard Solomon literally made his home his Castle. In 1972, he began building a 12,000 square foot castle complete with towers, a moat and a boat on 55 acres of swamp land in Ona, Florida – in the middle of nowhere. The entire exterior of the castle is covered with aluminum offset printing plates and includes 80 stained glass windows. Solomon was an artist, referred to in  Weird Florida as “the Da Vinci of Debris” and “the Rembrandt of Reclamation.” Originally from Rochester, New York, Solomon became a skilled  welder, carpenter, painter, shipbuilder, cabinet-maker, tinsmith, plumber, electrician and carver. Many of his creations are quite sophisticated. He died in August 2016 at the age of 81. His daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and many friends continue the tours, sharing the works of this unique individual in their equally unique setting. Learn more
