SciCafe St. Petersburg – “Let’s Talk Trash”

Tuesday, May. 20th, 6:00PM–7:30PM
  • This event has passed.

Moderator: Rob Lorei, News Director WMNF 88.5 community radio

• Kim Albins, Gulf of Mexico Regional Coordinator- NOAA Marine Debris Program
• Mike Connors, City of St. Petersburg Public Works Administrator, Recycling Initiative
• Robert Hardy, Masters Student, University of South Florida College of Marine Science, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

The issue of marine debris was recently highlighted during the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. At which time, large pieces of trash identified by satellites where mistaken as plane wreckage. Join the discussion about local, regional and national initiatives underway aimed at reducing the amount of trash adrift in the ocean that impacts sealife. Discover how our local scientific community, with your help, is creating an innovative way to look at marine debris through public art.

Cost: Free with RSVP. Event takes place in The Dali Museum’s Raymond James Community Room. RSVP for SciCafe at 727-803-9799 X206 and info@thesecretsofthesea.org
