Coffee with a Curator: Artists and Designers

Wednesday, Dec. 06, 10:30–11:30am
  • This event has passed.

Coffee with a Curator is a focused, theme-oriented presentation on a variety of Dali-related topics. The talk is presented by one of The Dali Museum’s Curatorial/Education team or an invited speaker.

Artists and Designers: A Holy Alliance
Fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli’s collaboration with photographers, illustrators, sculptors and painters, including Salvador Dali, is legendary. She was not the first, however, to blur the line between art and design. The tradition dates back to the artisan workshops of the Renaissance and continues in the art commissions of present-day houses of fashion. In her talk, Margo Hammond traces this enduring alliance which has challenged distinctions between art and design and raised the question, “Is Fashion Art?”

Cost: Free (parking is free for members as available; $10 parking for non-members)
Location: Raymond James Community Room (overflow seating available in the Will Raymund Theater)

Supported by the City of St. Petersburg Arts and Culture Grant and Cafe Gala.
