ArtFlix: Chillida, Art & Dreams

Thursday, Jun. 29, 6–8pm

ArtFlix is a film series that features art related documentaries and feature films. During the months of June, July & August, ArtFlix will take place on the last Thursday of the month. ArtFlix will resume on the first Thursdays of each month in September.

Chillida, Art & Dreams
Made with the poetic view of his daughter, the film was shot in eight years in which she approached her father’s creative processes. It offers a wide, and in first person portrait of Chillida talking about his beginnings in art and about the last project that he devised for the Mountain Tindaya of Fuerteventura (Canary Islands). The film follows the long process of construction of the Chillida-Leku museum on the outskirts of San Sebastián and presents us with the material process of production of his spectacular works in iron. Several of Chillida’s most significant public works are shown and many important figures, with whom the sculptor collaborated in one way or another during his life, appear in the film.

Susana Chillida studied Film in New York University and is Doctor in Education by Columbia University, New York. Chillida, Art & Dreams (1998) followed her first film on her father: From Chillida to Hokusai, birth of a work of art (1992).
