Avant Music Series
The Museum frequently hosts local and national musicians who perform avant-garde and unusual music involving jazz,
electronic, world, classical, and contemporary improvisational. Often a collaborator with the EMIT series of Tampa
Bay, the Dali Museum hosts this music series for the enrichment of the community and to create the connection between
the visual and musical arts.
Coffee with a Curator
A special monthly visual presentation given by one of the Dali Museum's Curatorial/Education team held on the first
Wednesday of each month. Join us for complimentary coffee in the Raymond James Community Room at 10:15 followed at
10:30 by a focused, theme-oriented presentation on a variety of Dali-related topics.
Dali & Beyond Film Series
The Dali & Beyond Film Series features both movies about Dali and Dali-related topic as well as movies that share a
common enthusiasm for fantasy, dreams, creativity, and the imagination. Films show in the Theater every first and third
Thursday at 6 pm.
Dali & Beyond Lecture Series
The Dali & Beyond Lecture series explores a wide range of concepts that engaged Dali throughout his lifetime. The
discussions each month focus on a particular topic, explored in relation to Dali's art and from a unique perspective.
Guests speakers where appropriate. Lecture series on second Thursdays of the month (seasonal) at 6 pm in the Theater.
Docent Tours
Trained Museum docents provide over 15,000 tours of the Museum each year. These include tours adapted to the special needs
and interests of a wide variety of visitors. Docent training is an intense four month program consisting of fifteen two-hour
slide lectures, three written tests and a final mini-tour. Monthly continuing education classes are required to keep
long-time docents current with changing interpretations of Dali's art.
In addition, special training is undertaken to
prepare for all changing exhibits, including slide lectures and gallery walkthroughs with curators.
Our Town Conversations
Our Town is a once-a-month conversation with a notable St. Pete mythmaker. Host Dr. Carol Mickett, philosopher and artist,
converses with these local heroes about their visions, accomplishments, and contributions to shaping the identity of our
town.
Where else but at the Dali Museum - which showcases the mythmaking of artist Salvador Dali - to honor the people of
our city and its surroundings who are building the greatness which is St. Petersburg?
Opera
Experience Opera at The Dali, a collaboration with St. Petersburg College. Opera at the Dali introduces audiences to emerging
opera artists through dynamic performances held on the third Thursday of every month. Artists perform on the spiral staircase.
Performances start at 6pm.
Writing Workshops
Margo Hammond, former book editor of the St. Petersburg Times and founder of the Creative Late Bloomers blog, conducts writing
workshops using specific Dali paintings and writings as catalysts.
Yoga
Every Sunday at the New Dali yogis unite in this remarkable environment where Dali's energy infuses the physical, mental and
spiritual inspiration of yoga Classes are vinyasa/ashtanga-based incorporating pranayama (breath work), asana (posture work),
meditation and relaxation.
Beginners and experienced yogis are welcome. Classes are held in the Community Room or Avant-Garden,
both with incredible views of the waterfront. Practice as gentle or advanced as desired.
