The third floor is made up of two distinct art experiences housed in the Tom and Mary James Family Wing and the Hough Family Wing. The Tom and Mary James Family Wing displays the museum's oil painting collection and is organized to allow a chronological tour of Dali's prolific career. The galleries in this Wing are arranged to allow long lines of sight for the large Masterwork paintings that hang in natural light at the perimeter.
Dali expressed his artistic vision through a wide range of media, including film, video, sculpture, printmaking, book illustration, imaginative writing, illustration, and performance art. The Hough Family Wing was designed to accommodate the display of such diverse media. The Hough Wing also accommodates visiting exhibitions, and the Student Gallery, located within the Hough Family Wing, presents exhibitions of Florida student work and educational exhibitions designed for students.
